- This installation expands the footprint of the Tank Commander™ VMS to the Bakken oil shale region
- Tank Commander VMS delivers automatic, active tank pressure management to significantly reduce venting and flaring emissions from tank batteries
DENVER, CO (December 4, 2023) – EcoVapor, a DNOW Company, today announced the successful installation and startup of a Tank Commander™ Vapor Management System (VMS) for a new customer. This is the first of two planned VMS units to be deployed for a major Oil & Gas operator for its wells producing from the Bakken oil shale assets in North Dakota.
Venting and flaring from tank batteries have emerged as the most significant source of well site emissions today, which means controlling tank battery emissions offers the greatest opportunity for making environmental performance gains.

“Our Tank Commander Vapor Management System is now operating in both the DJ Basin and the Bakken oil shale. This new commissioning is the first Tank Commander VMS installed with a major Bakken operator with more planned. The innovative system controls tank battery pressures to minimize venting while harvesting and treating the gas that would otherwise be flared to ensure it meets pipeline specifications and can be sold. It eliminates would-be emissions, profitably. The VMS is just one of our Pathways to Zero, helping operators achieve their emissions reductions goals without sacrificing economic results.”

Shown in the foreground are the control and electrical panels operating the ZerO2™ oxygen removal system with the pressure control system in the background.
The pressure control system monitors tank pressures, drawing vapor from the tank battery at proportional flow rates to control and hold tank battery pressure to the operator-selected set point while preventing vacuum conditions by sending makeup gas to the battery if pressure declines below the set point.
The Tank Commander is now operating in both the DJ and Bakken basins.

About EcoVapor
EcoVapor, a DNOW company, provides gas treating solutions to both geologic and biogas production problems. Our fleet of proprietary ZerO2 oxygen removal (deoxo) units has grown to a fleet of nearly 300 since 2010, operating reliably for leading producers in all major U.S. basins. ZerO2 technology helps Oil & Gas and biogas producers convert waste gas streams into revenue by treating gas to meet pipeline specifications so it can be sold instead of vented or flared, generating incremental value while reducing emissions and improving environmental performance.
EcoVapor is headquartered in Denver, Colorado and has field locations in Greeley, Colorado and Midland, Texas.
