- E&P company with significant operations in the DJ Basin of Colorado deployed the ZerO2 system to reduce flaring and emissions from a large multi-well production pad in Weld County
- The operator can now capture and sell rich, tank vapor gas instead of flaring it
- The ZerO2 solution drives incremental profits, reduces flaring and improves financial and environmental sustainability
- The startup resulted in no production downtime
DENVER, CO (September 11, 2019) – EcoVapor Recovery Systems, LLC today announced that it has commissioned a new ZerO2™ unit on a large production pad located in the DJ Basin of Colorado in Weld County. The customer is an independent E&P company with significant operations in Colorado.
One E300 ZerO2 unit was installed with a nameplate processing capacity of 300 MSCF/Day. Twelve wells are currently producing on the production pad, with up to 48 wells eventually being on the pad at full field development. Concentrating multiple wells onto one pad conserves capital and reduces the surface footprint of oil and gas operations, improving operational safety and efficiency. The modularity of the ZerO2 solution enables processing capacity to seamlessly scale-up, or down, with production levels.
The operator chose the ZerO2 solution specifically to comply with increasingly stringent air quality regulations. By capturing and selling tank flash gas, the ZerO2 solution significantly reduces flaring and a site’s potential to emit. Importantly, selling the captured tank flash gas as higher value natural gas liquids creates a source of incremental profits to the operator.
The pad is part of the operator’s vertical remediation strategy, designed to replace multiple legacy vertical wells with fewer horizontal wells. This operational strategy conserves capital, reduces the surface impact of oil and gas operations and provides for improved safety and efficiencies. Importantly, the startup involved no production downtime.
ZerO2 units use proprietary technology to enable operators to capture and sell high-Btu content tank vapor flash gas, lowering tank pressures in the process. As a result, the ZerO2 system significantly reduces, and often eliminates, the need to flare or combust gas. ZerO2 systems also improve site safety and ensure emissions compliance by actively managing tank pressures and eliminating harmful vapor emissions.
With no moving parts, ZerO2 units are typically the most reliable pieces of equipment on the well site. For the two years and seven months ended July 2019, the ZerO2 fleet has accumulated millions of hours of runtime operation with an impressive track record of reliability, typically 100% uptime. Not one production site using the solution has experienced unexpected shut-ins as a result of high oxygen levels.
Mike McMahon, Chief Executive Officer, said: “This most recent successful startup with a Colorado-based producer is particularly satisfying. In the current market and regulatory environment, operators are seeking new solutions for capturing the most value from their production stream, while simultaneously improving financial and environmental sustainability. The ZerO2 solution helps oil and gas producers meet increasingly stringent air emissions regulations and simultaneously strengthen their bottom lines with additional profits.”
