- Large E&P operator expands deployment of ZerO2 oxygen removal system to support growing oil and gas production volumes
- ZerO2 units have no moving parts and help eliminate the need to flare by removing oxygen to capture 100% of tank vapor flash gas
DENVER, CO (May 22, 2019) – EcoVapor Recovery Systems, LLC today announced that it has commissioned four new E300 model ZerO2™ oxygen removal units on a production pad located in the Eagle Ford Shale play in south Texas. The customer is a large, independent oil and gas producer with a leasehold in excess of 650,000 net acres in the play. The Eagle Ford commissioning represents a follow-on to previously successful installations and ongoing ZerO2 service of the customer’s operations in the Powder River Basin. The newly commissioned units are the E300 model, currently the best-selling ZerO2 unit available with nameplate processing capacity of 300 MSCF/Day.
With EcoVapor’s earlier installations for the customer in Wyoming, this expansion consists of the first units commissioned in the Eagle Ford Shale basin for the company. EcoVapor’s experience in the Eagle Ford Shale play contributed to the safe and efficient installation, helping the customer minimize downtime and start realizing the benefits of the ZerO2 solution faster.
Production from the Eagle Ford Shale play frequently contains Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S). To remove the corrosive gas from the production stream, a process known as “sweetening,” a triazine H2S scavenger was installed upstream of the ZerO2 units.
ZerO2 units use proprietary technology to remove oxygen from the production stream, enabling operators to capture and sell high-Btu content tank vapor flash gas, lowering tank pressures in the process. As a result, the ZerO2 system significantly reduces, and often eliminates, the need to flare or combust gas while also improving site safety and profit margins.
ZerO2 units have no moving parts, reducing repair and maintenance needs which minimizes the need to have people travel to and from well sites so equipped. For the two and a half years ended April 2019, the ZerO2 fleet has accumulated and maintained an impressive track record of reliability, typically 100% uptime, and not one production site using the solution has experienced unexpected shut-ins as a result of high oxygen levels.
Mike McMahon, Chief Executive Officer, said, “This commissioning builds on the momentum we have with our existing customer base and growing market demand for the ZerO2 solution. The E300 is our most popular model and has a compact footprint, measuring only sixteen square feet. ZerO2 units bolt-on downstream of any vapor recovery units that may already be on site. I am proud of our field team for performing another safe and efficient installation.”
