A private, independent operator has deployed an EcoVapor Emissions Scout™ unit to a well site in Texas as part of a well site emissions evaluation and assessment program.
The company engaged EcoVapor for an emissions survey of the well site, to obtain an accurate profile of site emissions based on actual data, not just estimates.
Over a two-week period, the Emissions Scout unit will be collecting data on tank pressures, flare volumes and composition of tank vapor gas. This information will be used to develop an emissions control plan for several offsetting well sites aimed at reducing actual emissions and eliminating routine tank flaring and venting.
Jason Roe, EcoVapor CEO said, “Emissions Scout was built on the premise that you cannot manage what you do not measure. An effective emissions control plan must be based on actual data, not just estimates. Although emissions factor estimates can get you an air permit, they often fail to provide the true picture of well site emissions needed for designing systems that will eliminate tank flaring and venting. The Emissions Scout gives engineers the data they need to avoid both over and under designing production systems.”
About Emissions Scout
Emissions Scout is a skid mounted unit that continuously monitors tank pressure, vapor gas quality and flare volumes. Instrumentation includes pressure sensors at the tank battery, metering of the tank flare line, and continuous measurements of oxygen content of tank vapor gas, tank pressures and flare line volumes.
Addressing environmental performance at tank batteries is a key element for making significant reductions in emissions and flaring. A common difficulty for operators is that plans are based on estimates or spot measurements made at the well site or production facility.
Emissions Scout provides operators with the accurate and reliable information they need to evaluate alternatives effectively, right-size equipment to specific scenarios and make meaningful and actual reductions in emissions and eliminate the routine flaring of tank vapor gas.
More information is available on the Emissions Scout product page.
