- E&P company with an active development plan deployed new ZerO2 units on three new production pads to manage well site emissions and reduce flaring
- The new units reduce potential to emit and help the operator manage emissions and obtain air permits
- The operator can now capture and sell rich, tank vapor gas instead of flaring it
DENVER, CO (December 4, 2019) – EcoVapor Recovery Systems, LLC today announced that an existing customer, an oil and gas producer with an active drilling program in the DJ Basin of Colorado, has deployed three additional ZeroO2™ units on three new production pads. The customer is an independent E&P company with established operations in Colorado.
These most recent deployments, completed between mid-October and late November, bring the customer’s ZerO2 fleet up to six total units. EcoVapor expects the operator to order additional units as part of its field development plan. The ZerO2 units installed are E300 units with nameplate processing capacity of 300 MSCF/Day each. The equipment startup involved no production downtime.
The ZerO2 solution enables the operator to capture substantially all of tank vapor flash gas produced on equipped sites and sell it, instead of flare or combust it, which results in higher NOx emissions and loss of profit.
The operator’s primary reason for adopting the ZerO2 solution is emissions management, including reducing the potential to emit from the new production pads to below regulatory thresholds. These most recent installations also eliminated the need to use Vapor Recovery Towers on the sites where the ZerO2 units are installed. Instead of the produced oil going through a VRT, it is routed directly into surface storage tanks.
The ZerO2 solution uses proprietary technology enabling operators to capture and sell high-Btu content tank vapor flash gas, lowering tank pressures in the process. As a result, the ZerO2 system significantly reduces, and often eliminates, the need to flare or combust gas. ZerO2 systems also improve site safety and ensure emissions compliance by actively managing tank pressures and eliminating harmful vapor emissions.
With no moving parts, ZerO2 units are typically the most reliable pieces of equipment on the well site. For the two years and ten months ended November 2019, the ZerO2 fleet has accumulated millions of hours of runtime operation with an impressive track record of reliability, typically 100% uptime. Not one production site using the solution has experienced unexpected shut-ins as a result of high oxygen levels.
Mike McMahon, Chief Executive Officer, said: “Once an operator has experienced the benefits of lower emissions, higher liquids sales and reduced or even eliminated flaring, they tend to adopt more ZerO2 units. In some cases, operators have made the ZerO2 a part of their standard specification for new well sites, including production handling and storage facilities. The ZerO2 solution helps operators meet stringent air quality regulations and simultaneously drive incremental profits. I congratulate our field team for yet another successful and safe startup with no downtime.”
