- Large independent E&P deployed the ZerO2 solution as a mobile fleet to capture and sell high-value vapor produced during well completion operations
- The solution minimizes flaring, improves emissions management and provides attractive financial returns
- EcoVapor personnel advising in the vapor recovery process
DENVER, CO (January 14, 2020) – EcoVapor Recovery Systems, LLC today announced that a large oil and gas producer with an active drilling program in the Permian Basin has deployed multiple ZerO2 units to process production during the high production phase of new wells. The operator is a large independent E&P company with an active drilling program focused on the Delaware Basin region of the Permian Basin in New Mexico and several other basins across the U.S.
The gas capture program began in August 2019 with a single ZerO2 E300 unit and continued success warranted the addition of four additional units to the program. Under the program, the operator and EcoVapor coordinate on completion and start of flowback, ensuring a unit is ready for operation when needed. EcoVapor field personnel then participate in the installation and commissioning of the ZerO2 unit to the Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) to capture unrecovered vapor and liquids.
The EcoVapor system controls the entire vapor recovery process by reading and controlling tank pressures and managing flow to the flare in case of a non-routine event. Precise regulation of the inlet flow to the compressor improves VRU uptime and overall process efficiency. Once the gas volume falls below a predetermined threshold, the ZerO2 unit is moved to the next site. In some instances, the ZerO2 remains on site indefinitely.
The operator chose the ZerO2 solution to both increase returns on drilling by capturing and selling high-value natural gas liquids and comply with stricter air emissions regulations in New Mexico. Additional benefits include an improved safety profile from lower tank pressures on site.
The operator estimated that it had experienced a 50% rate of return within one month of deploying the ZerO2 solution to flowback operations. The EcoVapor ZerO2 solution significantly reduces or eliminates the need for routine flaring and generates incremental revenue by capturing and selling gas that otherwise would have been flared.
ZerO2 units are skid-mounted and with a small footprint of only four square feet, making them portable and inexpensive to move with no downtime. The units have no moving parts, making them rugged and durable.
Mike McMahon, Chief Executive Officer, said: “It is exciting to see operators expand their use of the EcoVapor ZerO2 solution to drilling and completion processes. Management teams and boards of directors in today’s market are facing multiple, often competing priorities from investors and regulators to increase returns, comply with increasingly stringent air quality regulations and improve sustainability. Our technology has the potential to check all these boxes along the well lifecycle, from drilling to production. Our field team is doing a fantastic job safely managing this program with no downtime experienced by the customer.”
