- New customer deployed two new EcoVapor ZerO2™ units to fast track drilling permits
- ZerO2 is the solution for streamlining permitting, improving operational flexibility and increasing returns on drilling
DENVER, CO (January 28, 2020) – EcoVapor Recovery Systems, LLC today announced the successful installation and startup of two ZerO2 E300 units for a new customer. The operator is an independent E&P company with an active drilling program focused on the Delaware Basin region of the Permian Basin in Texas.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) allows up to 100% of estimated flash vapor emission reductions (Potential to Emit, or PTE) to be reduced for operators that install emissions mitigation technologies, including EcoVapor’s ZerO2 solution. If the oil and gas site PTE emissions, including the volumes captured by the ZerO2 units and other contributing technologies, total less than 25 tons per year of VOC (tpy), then operators can proceed with flowback and production operations without filing a permit request with the TCEQ. This process is known as Permit by Rule.
Well sites and production pads with PTE above 25 tpy must otherwise apply for a Standard Permit, which requires state approval. Further, if PTE is above 100 tpy, a Title V permit must be filed with State and Federal authorities. Registration requirements for Permit by Rule may apply depending on location, equipment and type of facility.
The ZerO2 solution increases the amount of “capture credits” an operator can use to reduce total PTE from the pad. By doing so, it allows operators to increase the number of producing wells on a single production pad and capture greater volumes of tank vapor gas, thus increasing the amount of “capture credits” an operator can use to offset total PTE from a single pad. As a result, operators can reduce capital expenditures by consolidating equipment onto one location and avoiding expensive rig moves.
The EcoVapor ZerO2 solution enables the operator to both recover tank vapor flash gas directly from the tanks and remove oxygen from the recovered gas stream. As a result, the EcoVapor ZerO2 solution significantly reduces or eliminates the need to flare, reduces the potential for fugitive emissions from surface storage tanks and generates incremental revenue by selling gas that otherwise would have been combusted.
Mike McMahon, Chief Executive Officer, said: “The EcoVapor ZerO2 is increasingly being seen by operators in Texas as the solution for streamlining the permitting process, improving operational flexibility and increasing returns on drilling new wells. I give credit to our expert field team for safe and fast startups that involved no downtime for the customer.”
